Orestes Brownson Essay Contest

We launched the Orestes Brownson Essay Contest for undergraduates in 2025. While 88 students expressed an intent to write an essay, only 15 submitted essays.

For the 2026 contest our target is to have 50 essays submitted, correlating to 200 expressions of interest. That means that we have to staff up our outreach to colleges and universities which means our budget for the essay contest is $80,000.
